Tegan had this to say about the album in a previous press release: “As the 10th anniversary of The Con approached, Sara and I started to brainstorm meaningful ways to celebrate what was easily one of our most important records. Our hope was that each artist would reinvent and reimagine each song, and they did not disappoint!” Of the differences between the cover and the original, Tegan added: “Their cover could not have been more unexpected and we think it’s beautiful. CHVRCHES are in the studio making a new record, so we were touched they made the time to cover ‘Call It Off.’” Lauren is an ally to the LGBTQ community and has been outspoken and political, so she fit the ethos of the project perfectly. We are massive fans of CHVRCHES and the music they make. Tegan Quin had this to say to Entertainment Weekly about the cover: “Lauren was one of the first artists we approached for The Con X: Covers project. Listen to it below via Entertainment Weekly(who premiered it), followed by the music video for the original version and Tegan and Sara’s tour dates. It also slows down and stretches out the song (the original version is around 2:20 and the cover is 5:06). Now they have shared CHVRCHES’ take on “Call It Off.” CHVRCHES’ version is gorgeous, moody, and atmospheric. Last week it was revealed that the album includes CHVRCHES, Ryan Adams, Grimes and HANA, Hayley Williams of Paramore, Bleachers, Kelly Lee Owens, Shamir, Cyndi Lauper, Shura, and others. You won't be disappointed.Tegan and Sara previously announced that they are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their album The Con with a tour and The Con X: Covers, an album due out October 20 (via Warner Bros) in which other artists cover each song on The Con, with all net proceeds going to the Tegan and Sara Foundation, which works in support of LGBTQ girls and women. I recommend this album to those who like indie or alternative music, as well as those looking to add something different to their collection.

Tegan delivers breathtaking lyrics, and when backed by her sister Sara's vocals, the song approaches perfection. The last song, "Call it Off," is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. The following track, "Floorplan," took a couple of listens for me to really appreciate it's beauty, but it quickly became one of the most-played tracks. "Nineteen," is one of the better songs on the album, and will have you singing the infectious chorus in no time. It's beauty lies in both the words and the music, and it is by far one of my favorites. "Soil Soil," has perhaps the sweetest, most genuine lyrics on the entire CD. My only complaint is that it ends too soon! The catchy beat and fast chorus are a perfect follow-up to the afforementioned song. The next song, "Hop a Plane," is another example of Tegan and Sara's amazing songwriting abilities.

The music, the words- everything is perfect. The first single off the album, "Back In Your Head," is absolutely amazing. "Are You Ten Years Ago," has a slightly remixed type beat, with haunting lyrics. It has brilliant, if not slightly self pitying lyrics, such as, "Nobody likes to but I really like to cry.

One of the singles off the album, this is one of the most musically interesting as well. The title track, "The Con," speeds things up a bit. The opening track, "I Was Married," starts the album off with a beautiful melody, both simple and sweet. Their latest CD, "The Con," is simply amazing. I started listening to their latest work, progressing backwards to their very first album and have yet to be disappointed. Their sound is unique, yet easy to relate to. After stumbling upon Tegan and Sara accidentally, I became hooked.
